Design Thinking & Proposal
I am making a guitar strap and an album book for guitar players and music lovers because I want to illustrate with music and because I want my art to be wearable. I plan to listen to a variety of songs and from the music, illustrate using all types of media, but mostly using pen and paint.

To create my album book illustrations, I recorded different illustrations in a small sketchbook, experimenting with textures and colours and listening to music every time I drew. Most of the songs that I listened to had prominently narrative lyrics, and musical artists that inspired me most were Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Guy Clark, Leonard Cohen and Christy Moore – mostly 1960s country folk artists.
Illustrators that inspired my designs were artists such as James Jean, Jackson Pollock and my tutor, Nicholas Stevenson.

For Material Thinking project I wanted to use a medium that I haven’t used in a while; paint! I love using acrylic paint especially when it comes to creating portraits and landscapes. I wanted these two paintings to be a diptych – one depicting sad or angry emotions behind it using cold, blue toned hues and the other being more peaceful and having a sense of calmness to it using warmer tones.
